Can a sex offender work with with minors under the age of 18?

If they can, what are (if there are any) restictions or guidelines that they have to follow?
The man was charged and convicted of Criminal Sexual Conduct 2nd Degree (multiple variables) and he works with children and has authority over them.
The store he works at is owned by a family member and they know of his history. Is it up to the owner or someone else to do something about it.
