How long after unprotected sex is it safe to take out the Mirena IUD?

I've had enough. The side-effects are miserable. I need this out of me! The only problem is that I had unprotected sex just a few days ago. Should I wait 3-6 weeks until my next period? They are so irregular already, I don't know when it will come.

semen can only live inside a vagina for 4 days max. ask your doctor, you have to have them remove it anyway.
